NBER’s 6th annual Environmental and Energy Policy and the Economy conference

Ben Groom and Frank Venmans were invited to contribute to National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) 6th annual conference of the Environmental and Energy Policy and Economics Journal (EEPE). This journal is edited by Tatyana Deryugina (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), Catherine Wolfram (MIT), and Matthew Kotchen (Yale). Frank Venmans presented the invited paper entitled ‘The Social Value of Temporary Carbon Removals and Delayed Emissions‘, which will be published in this journal. The paper builds on and extends the insights found in The Social Value of Offsets (2023) by Ben Groom and Frank Venmans. The conference took place in the National Press Club in Washington, DC and was be attended by members of the academic, government and NGO communities. The keynote was given by Pr Cass Sunstein who spoke on the difficulties of current proposals for handling inequality in Cost-Benefit Analysis in the context of using the average Value of a Statistical Life (VSL).
