We examine how forest conservation and restoration can be targeted to deliver additional climate benefits: outcomes that exceed business-as-usual (BAU) forest dynamics. We address persistent concerns that conservation policies and carbon markets overestimate baseline deforestation risk, thereby undermining environmental integrity.
